Why UniThrive?

How it works

College is expensive, so why pay any more than you have to? UniThrive lets you take out a loan of anywhere between $500 and $2,000 once a semester from alumni lenders. You will never pay any interest on this loan.

You create a profile on the site to tell your story: biographical and demographic information, loan needs, academic pursuits, extracurricular activities, career aspirations, and personal interests. Our model is multiple-to-one, meaning an unlimited number of alumni can pledge to lend to your loan request until the full amount requested has been met.

We’ll take care of all the processing for you. The loan will be directly deposited with your school, so you can focus on the more important things.

Connect with alumni

As part of your loan, we’ll ask you to maintain regular contact with your alumni lenders. This is a great opportunity to connect with successful alumni in a personal way. They’ll be tremendous resources for you as you go through school and beyond.

Repayment

Repayment will begin the January following your graduation. All UniThrive loans have a 5-year maturity and are paid in quarterly installments.

Privacy and security

We care about your privacy! We make sure that users are either current undergraduates or alumni of each institution through checks on their official university-given email addresses, so you can be sure that you are always communicating with alumni. Only alumni can see  student profiles and loan requests, so your privacy is full maintained.
